The ESG Mural

The mural at Energy and Security Group’s home office was designed and painted by Thayer Tomlinson and Kristin Stroup from 2005 to 2006.  It measures roughly 5’ by 10’.  The mural depicts a sustainable, completely self-sufficient village in Tuscany—with a large town square, rambling countryside, agricultural fields, and many forms of sustainable energy.  Large wind turbines create energy; a smaller windmill pumps water; solar panels (both photovoltaic and solar thermal) are installed on many rooftops and on streetlamps; a waterwheel harnesses the river; the village receives heat from a geothermal heat pump; and biomass (from both plants and animals) is utilized for heat and power.
