International Grid-Connected Renewable Energy Policy Forum
On behalf of the Energy Ministry of Mexico, the Global Environment Facility, the World Bank, and the Energy Sector Management Assistance Programme (ESMAP), and organized in association with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), the International Grid-Connected Renewable Energy Policy Forum was held in Mexico City, Mexico to facilitate increased use of on-grid renewable energy in the developing world. It provided a platform for participants to share experiences, exchange information, and trade lessons learned in grid-connected renewable energy policy formulation and adoption. In achieving this goal, the forum successfully brought together over 300 participants, among them policymakers, regulators, academics, investors, financiers, industry, and utilities responsible for power sector and renewable energy development.The Forum had representatives from over 40 countries.ESG provided planning, organizational, and logistical support for the design and implementation of the event.
Specifically, ESG:
Organized strategic planning sessions, as necessary with the advisory team and the Mexican government, to agree on goals, objectives, outcomes, topical areas, agenda items, speakers and other issues pertaining to the Forum.
Prepared a detailed budget accounting for the event.
Coordinated with regional coordinators, task managers, and in-country facilitators on regional and in-country preparation activities.
Guided the preparation of briefing books for key World Bank senior managers who participated in the Forum.
Finalized the Forum brochure, and developed informational and publicity material for posting on the Web and for distribution to meeting participants.
Served as facilitator during the Forum to ensure that the meeting objectives and outcomes were achieved.
Prepared Forum proceedings, including recommendations and next steps.
Worked with conference sponsors to develop meeting agendas and speaker identification.
